Nina Littman-Sharp MSW, RSW is the Manager of the Problem Gambling Service of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. She received her MSW from the University of Toronto in 1984. She has worked in both family counselling and addictions settings, and has had extensive experience with individuals, couples and groups. From 1987 to 1994 she was a therapist at the Addiction Research Foundation. In 1995 she joined one of the first specialized treatment program for problem gamblers in Ontario. Nina has been managing the program since 1998, and has been involved in a wide variety of clinical, research, training, outreach and public education efforts. She has been closely involved in the development of a project to provide culturally- and linguistically-appropriate gambling treatment, education and prevention in Toronto.
Nina has presented and trained in a number of areas in relation to problem gambling: behavioural interventions, couples work, gambling and fatigue, and on the Inventory of Gambling Situations, an instrument which assesses areas of risk for relapse. Nina co-authored this instrument, which is being used by practitioners throughout Ontario and elsewhere in Canada and the U.S. as a relapse prevention tool. She has written articles on relapse prevention strategies for problem gamblers, and on Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder in relation to problem gambling. She moderates a 500-member international listserv for problem gambling professionals
