John Macdonald has worked for 10 years as the Youth Specialist of CAMHs Problem Gambling Service. Johns graduate work at U of T focused upon interactions between emotion and cognition. Johns clinical work has informed his research efforts on the prevention of Youth Problem Gambling. Johns most recent research was developing and testing content retention of Youth Making Choices. This classroom based curriculum utilizes skills development to reduce the risk of the onset of problem gambling. Previous research includes adolescent understanding of the emotional and cognitive aspects of gambling. Johns prevention research has been presented in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S.A. , Vancouver and Toronto.
