Glossary of Lottery Terms

Lottery

Numbered tickets upon which the winning ticket(s) are selected by lot.

Pull-Tabs/Nevadas Tickets

Tickets with five windows displayed on its face that players open to find the hidden winning symbols. Each ticket costs twenty-five cents to two dollars and has various payouts, depending on the ticket type. Lottery agents tend to carry several different kinds of pull-tabs.

Quick Pick

Playing Lotto 6/49 in Ontario wherein the cashier of a participating store sets a computer to randomly pick one's numbers upon the player's request, rather than independently choosing numbers. 

Scratch n Win

Lottery tickets that have hidden prizes. Players have to scratch off the cover of boxes to determine whether or not they have a winner
