3-Way Craps
A bet made in units of 3. One unit each on 2, 3, and 12. No bet is placed on 11.
Aces
heading
A bet that the following roll will have a total of 2.
Any Craps
A bet that the following roll will be a 2, 3, or 12. The bet pays 7:1, a house edge of 11.1%.
Any seven
A bet that the following roll with will be a 7. The bet pays 4:1, a house edge of 16.7%.
Backline
Also known as Don't Pass Line.
Big 6
A bet that a 6 will be rolled before a 7 is rolled. This pays even money with a house edge of 9.1%. A place bet on 6 pays 7:6 but is otherwise the same. The place bet is favoured with a house edge of 9.1%. (See place bet )
Big 8
A bet that an 8 will come up before a 7 is rolled. This bet pays even money, with a house edge of 9.1%. A place bet on 8 pays 7:6 but is otherwise the same. The place bet is preferred, with a house edge of 1.5%.
Big Red
A bet placed on any seven.
Bones
Box Man
Table manager who sits between the stickman and the chips that are kept on hand at each craps table.
Boxcars
Broke Money
Money the casino lends to the broke player.
Buffalo
A bet placed on both the hard way and any seven.
Buy Bet
Paying the house a 5% commission in order to receive correct odds for a place bet. The player may lower the house edge from 6.67% to 4% with buy bets on 4 and 10. Casinos vary in whether commission is collected only on winning bets or at the time the bet is made.
Capped Dice
Casino Advantage
Also known as edge. The advantage the casino (or house) has over the player in any game.
Cold Table
When the shooters are not making points.
Come Bet
Also known as a virtual pass line bet. A bet made after the come out roll but in is otherwise, exactly like a pass line bet.
Come Out Roll
The first roll of the dice in a betting round. Pass bets win when the come out roll is 7 or 11 and lose when the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12. Don't come bets lose when the come out roll is 7 or 11 and wine when the come out roll is 2 or 3. Don't come bets tie when the come out roll is 12 (2 in some casinos). The bar roll on the layout notes which roll is considered a tie.
Crap
The numbers 2, 3, and 12.
Crap Out
Rolling a 2, 3, or 12 on the first roll.
Craps
Dealer
Responsible for all bets made on his/her half of the table. Money is given to the dealer who makes the bet for you.
Dice Pass
When the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the come out roll, the dice are said to pass and when the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 on the come out roll, the dice are said to don't pass. When the come out roll is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, this roll sets the point and the shooter continues to roll until the point is rolled again or a 7 is rolled (referred to as seven out). If the shooter rolls the point before a seven is rolled, the dice pass. If the shooter sevens out, the dice don't pass and the dice are given to another player. Dice are only passed to another player when the game has been completed or the shooter sevens out.
Don't Come Bet
Also known as a virtual don't pass bet. This bet is made after the come out roll but otherwise is the same as a don't pass bet.
Don't Pass Bet
A bet that the dice will not pass. Placed immediately before a come out roll. A push results if either a 2 or 12 (varies among casinos) is rolled. House edge is 1.4%. A don't pass bet cannot be raised but may be lowered after the come out roll.
Double Odds
An odds bet that is twice the original pass/come bet. Some casinos permit higher odds such as five or 10 times the original sum.
Field Bet
A bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. This bet pays even money for 3, 4, 9, and 11 and pays 2:1 for 2 or 12. Some casinos pay 3:1 for the 2 or 12 (not both) and some make the 5 rather than the 9 a field roll.
Front Money
Credit in the form of cash or bank cheques, deposited with the casino by a player who bets with that money.
Hard Way
A bet on 4, 6, 8, or 10 that wins if the dice show the same face. For example, a hard 10 occurs if each die show a 5.
Horn Bet
A bet that is a one-roll wager that wins if 2, 3, 11, or 12, is made. Odds are paid according to the winning number rolled. One unit is placed on each number.
Horn High Bet
A bet in which the wager is split into five separate parts. Two units on the high number 12, and one unit for each of 2, 3 and 11.
Insurance Bet
Laying two or more wagers at one table as an effort to insure one or the other.
Lay Bet
A bet that 7 will NOT be rolled before a chosen number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10). The casino takes 5% commission on these bets either at the time it is placed or upon winning, depending on the casino.
Lay Odds
These are additional odds that a player can use to bet against the dice.
Line Bet
Placing a bet on the pass line or the don't pass line before for the dice have been rolled for the first time in that particular game.
Little Joe
Getting a Hard 4, meaning having a 2 on one dice and a 2 on the other. Not 3 and 1.
Marker Puck
Plastic disks used by dealers to mark the point on the craps table. Its used only as a tracking device for the point number.
Midnight
Betting that 12 will appear on the following roll.
Odds Off
Odds bets that are not working. Odds bets can be called off by a player at any moment but are left on the felt until the bet is resolved. Unless the better requests the odds bets to be working, the odd bets are usually off during the come out roll. If the line bet loses on the come out roll, the come odd bets that are off will be given back to the player. In craps, unlike most gambling games, bets can sometimes be reversed during play. When a player bets on a specific number, they can change their mind and ask the bet to be off. They can put the bet back on at any time.
Parlay
Increasing a bet by doubling previous bet.
Pit
An area in the midst of the craps tables in a casino. Floor men walk observe the games and employees from within the pit.
Place Bet
A bet that a certain number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) will be rolled before a 7 is rolled.
Place Bet (To Lose)
A bet that a particular number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) will not be rolled before a 7 is rolled.
Press
Adding ones winnings to a bet.
Put Bet
A bet made on the pass line after a come out roll, permitted only at some casinos. A put bet is also made directly onto a come point number. For example, Put $2 and $5 odds on the six. Neither is recommended because 45% of the pass line wins are made on the come out roll. When a player bets on the point number after the first roll, it is called a put bet.
Right Bettor
Players who bet the dice/shooter will pass or win.
Seven Out
The moment after a point has been established and the shooter throws a 7, their turn is terminated and a new game begins. The next player in line then becomes the shooter.
Shooter
Player who is rolling the dice.
Single Odds
An odds bet that is similar in amount as the original pass or come bet. Some casinos permit double odds or larger. A player takes odds on the come bet, if they wish. These bets pay true mathematical odds of the player making that point (e.g. rolling a 10 pays two to one on the odds bet, but only even money on the pass line bet). Some gambling establishments allow the player to place an odds bet that is larger than the original; however in a single odds game, the odds bet is the same value as the pass line bet.
Snake Eyes

Casino employee who calls the dice rolls and returns the dice to the shooter. Also places and pays the bets.
World Bet
A bet that the following roll will be 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12, made in multiples of 5 with one unit on each number.
Wrong Bettor
One who bets the dice will not pass or win. They bet that the house would win
3-Way Craps
A bet made in units of 3. One unit each on 2, 3, and 12. No bet is placed on 11.

A bet that the following roll will have a total of 2.
